By mid summer, many lawns are facing high temperatures and a second wave of aggressive weeds. Step 3 brings back Lawn Guard to reinforce lawns and maintain plant health while continuing to prevent weeds from sprouting and rooting. While step 1 focused on stopping early spring crabgrass, that initial protective barrier begins to break down after 8-10 weeks. Step 3 ensures that your lawn stays weed-free through the dog days of summer.
Key Features:
- Extended Pre-Emergent Protection: This second round of Prodiamine “recharges” the barrier in your soil. It targets late-season invaders like Spurge, Yellow Foxtail, and Goosegrass that wait for the high heat of July and August to emerge.
- Balanced Summer Feeding: The 19-3-5 NPK ratio provides a steady, moderate supply of nutrients. Unlike high-nitrogen fertilizers that can stress a lawn during a heatwave, this blend keeps the grass fed and resilient without forcing excessive, “thirsty” growth.
- Deep-Root Support: With 5% Potassium, this application continues to bolster the plant’s internal water management, helping your turf stay green even when the thermostat climbs.
We recommend that Step 3 be applied between June 1 to June 15 in order to prevent the late summer “weed explosion” and maintain uniform green color into autumn.
Spreader Settings: 5 lbs per 1,000 ft.
